· HISTORY
Emily and Robert stone made quite a living in the small town of Latent as they made a living with their magik. Robert was known to create both spells and charms for various costumers, while his wife made potions. Their life was calm and peacefully, and it was even more exciting when Emily became pregnant with a child. However, their life began to change when the arrival of their child Iris came about. Unlike normal children, Iris was born without eye, which instantly caused strange rumors to flutter around the village. Ignoring that, Emily and Robert loved their daughter very much. She was smart, intelligent, and had an adorable laugh. She was the joy of their life.
Since Iris did not make very many friends during her childhood, she began to learn how to read with her disability at the age of five. This allowed the development of Iris’s ability of Reader’s Touch to begin. Many villagers did not seem to enjoy the presence of this child, thus resulting in the family business to stagger a bit. But despite all of that, they were living a rather happy life. Money was never a big issue with them. As long as they had each other, things were considered to be happy within their life. When Iris reached the age of seven, her mother and father both began to teach her their own personal trades.
Unfortunately, all good things come to an end at some point.
During Iris’s eight years, things began to take a turn for the worst as crops and livestock were dying as well as villagers getting sick. Without any consideration on what the facts may have pointed too, they instantly blamed the Stone family. This resulted in a witch trail to begin in their small town. With pitchforks and torches, they raided the Stone estate. However, rather than allowing themselves to get caught Emily and Iris ran while Robert attempted to distract the mob. It wasn’t long till Emily was managed to be captured. For Iris, luck seemed to be on her side as she reached the Dead Forest before the mob could reach her. Naturally, the mob did not follow as they figured she was going to die anyways from the grasps of the Ogres in the forest. Emily and Robert instead faced the mobs and were forced to be burned at the stake.
Iris spent much of her time stumbling within the forest attempting to find some sort of shelter. After spending countless hours, she did manage to find what appeared to be an abandoned cabin within the center of the woods. This is where she continued to live the rest of her days, allowing the bitterness to grow inside of her. Occasionally, people would come in asking for help as they would bring her spell books, and food as payment.
It wasn’t till she reached her 40s till she realized how much she longed to have a child. After gaining a collection of books from her years of good service, she created her future child. With the use of milk, sugar, spices, a doll, a raven’s feather, ash, smoke, and a drop of her own blood, she was able to create her daughter Ember. This creation allowed her to finally feel a sense of joy and happiness that she hadn’t found since she was a child.
